Tedx 1 initiative project (2023) A guided tour of the parliament

Our partnership with TEDxPetalingStreet, established last year, has led to an educational event today. A group of enthusiastic team members, including employees of Wellous and volunteers from TEDxPetalingStreet, had the privilege of visiting Parliament Malaysia. They received a guided tour of the main building and experienced a live session of the Dewan Rakyat. This visit offered a valuable glimpse into the parliamentary processes and their historical context.

TEDxPetalingStreet, a global platform for sharing ideas, thrives on the dedication of its volunteer team. Wellous’ partnership with TEDxPetalingStreet is a source of pride as we support its mission to disseminate transformative ideas, unite the community, and inspire individuals.

TEDx PetalingStreet, Entomal & Wellous - Building a Community at Taylor’s University

Did you know that Malaysians discard an astonishing 17,000 tonnes of food waste daily, resulting in a significant release of CO2 emissions?

As global warming continues to pose a critical challenge, Wellous is steadfast in our commitment to environmental sustainability through our ESG initiatives. We are excited to share our recent collaboration with TEDxPetalingStreet Adventure, Entomal, and Taylor’s University Impact Lab in organizing an educational event titled “Building a Community at Taylor’s University”.

This event served as a platform to promote sustainability and community engagement, focusing on innovative methods of biowaste treatment and organic by-product upcycling using Black Soldier Fly larvae. These larvae, known as nature’s waste warriors, consume organic waste, thus mitigating landfill methane emissions. Their nutrient-rich excrement, or “frass”, serves as potent organic fertilizer, while the larvae themselves can be processed into protein-rich animal feed.

The event featured two rotational stations: “Insect Experience & Biowaste Utilization” and “Circular Economy Model”, where participants gained insights into the environmental benefits of bioconversion and sustainable food production.

Additionally, attendees had the opportunity to partake in a Culinology Workshop led by Professor Dr. Chong Li Choo from Taylor’s University, where they learned to make Edible Insect Cookies.

We take great pride in our involvement in this initiative and remain dedicated to supporting innovative approaches towards a more sustainable future.

Wellous X TEDxPetalingStreet Partnership | Tedx Talk Annual Event – Balance 衡

As the inspire partner to the TEDxPetalingStreet, Wellous is proud to witness the success of the recent TEDx Petaling Street event that brought together passionate speakers to share their ideas and knowledges, covering a wide range of topics from technology and business to social impact and the arts to all 1,800 attendees.

Wellous and TEDx Petaling Street share a strong commitment to innovation, creativity, and environmental sustainability. In line with this ethos, the event organizers made proactive efforts to reduce waste, encouraging participants to bring their own tumblers and offering eco-friendly merchandise made from recycled materials. Lucky draw winners had the opportunity to take home an award-winning chair crafted from ocean plastic waste, further promoting sustainability.
In addition to their mindful preparations, this year’s TEDx Petaling Street incorporated ESG ideas and inspiration, with dedicated speakers like Dr. Charles, a local food-tech company CEO, who explored plant-based proteins as an ESG solution to global food challenges. Chong Kah Yee, an environmental education expert, highlighted holistic ESG approaches for planet protection.

We would like to thank the organizers of TEDx Petaling Street for putting on such a successful event, and for giving us the opportunity to be a part of it. We are also grateful to our customers and partners for their continued support.

Looking forward, we are excited and anticipate to collaborate with TEDx on further ESG efforts in 2024. We share a commitment to sustainability and innovation, and we believe that by working together, we can make a bigger impact on our community.

Lunch Talk – Clarification on Garbage Disposal for Recycling by The Lost Food Project

We were delighted to have Nadirah and Edrickson from The Lost Food Project for an interactive Lunch Talk session at our headquarters this afternoon.

With waste management being one of the main areas in empowering change for a sustainable future, the sharing of knowledge on differentiating recyclable and non-recyclable items, as well as its benefits, helps Wellous employees to be equipped with a more environmentally conscious mindset.

Wellous’ Sustainability & ESG Pilot Initiative: Taking Action for a Greener Future
At Wellous, we are committed to driving sustainability and tackling climate change through a series of impactful initiatives this year.

Kicking off in Q1, we introduced a Recycling Programme to cultivate environmental awareness among our employees. As part of this initiative, recycling bins have been installed across our office premises to encourage responsible waste disposal and reduction.

Building on this momentum, we are excited to collaborate with Free Tree Society for an insightful Zero Waste & Composting Sharing Session. This session will empower our team with practical knowledge on sustainable living, perfectly complementing our ongoing recycling efforts.

By embracing these green initiatives, we are taking meaningful steps toward a more sustainable future—because every small action counts!

Successful!
