Wellous Group Limited (“Wellous”) has formalised a partnership with The Lost Food Project (“TLFP”) to drive sustainability initiatives nationwide. During the milestone ceremony, Wellous reinforced its commitment by targeting support for communities within the People’s Housing Programme (PPR) and indigenous groups, alongside a donation of RM50,000.
This collaboration highlights the shared commitment of both organisations to advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), Climate Action (SDG 13), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17). It strengthens Wellous and TLFP’s partnership to promoting well-being, reducing food waste, and alleviating hunger among vulnerable communities in the Klang Valley.
Renowned for rescuing surplus food and redistributing it to those in need, TLFP will play a crucial role in this partnership. Food insecurity and poor living conditions remain significant issues in Malaysia, especially for low-income families and indigenous populations. Annually, a large amount of edible food is wasted, worsening environmental and social problems. Wellous and TLFP aim to address these challenges by salvaging and redistributing surplus food to needy groups. This collaboration ensures struggling families receive adequate food and helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions from food waste, benefiting both communities and the environment.
“As a home-grown company deeply rooted in Malaysia, we recognise our responsibility to give back to the community. Partnering with TLFP enables us to make a meaningful impact on food security and sustainability in Malaysia,” said Mr. Andy Tan, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Wellous Group Limited. “By leveraging our resources and outreach, we aim to create a sustainable model that addresses immediate well-being issues within the communities we serve while contributing to a healthier environment for generations to come.”
In addition to its direct support, Wellous is extending its commitment by inviting TLFP to participate in its Subscription Plan for charity and sustainability efforts. Through this initiative, Wellous customers have the option to contribute when purchasing under the subscription plan. For every subscription box sold and delivered, Wellous will donate RM2.00 to TLFP. Every ringgit donated provides five meals to those in need, amplifying the impact of each contribution.
In 2023, Wellous undertook several initiatives with TLFP to foster sustainable practices and community engagement. These activities included knowledge-sharing sessions, product donations, and volunteer efforts at TLFP’s warehouse, where volunteers sorted and redistributed surplus edible food to those in need. The aim was to inspire employees to meaningfully contribute to the community and embrace environmentally conscious habits. Wellous also hosted TLFP for an interactive Lunch Talk at their headquarters, emphasizing waste management and recycling. The collaboration extended to a heartfelt outreach visit to Pusat Penjagaan Warga Emas Hati Mesra, showcasing the positive impact of their combined efforts.
